The Racecourse Association
The Racecourse Association (RCA) is the trade association of British Racecourses.
The variety of horseracing in Britain is unparalleled anywhere in the world. The 60 racecourses, each with its own particular character and atmosphere, offer a wide range of experiences and cater for all tastes and pockets. It is the RCA’s role to ensure that the high quality of those racecourses is maintained.

Professional Jockeys Association
The role of the Professional Jockey’s Association is to promote, protect and represent the interests of professional jockeys both on and off the racecourse. They work with regulatory, industry and commercial bodies to secure agreements to the benefit of all and continually working in the best interest of British horseracing.

With more than 7,500 members, the Racehorse Owners Association promotes and protects the interests of racehorse owners in Britain.
ROA Council members serve an important function on many of racing's boards and committees including the BHA Board.

National Trainers Federation
The National Trainers Federation (NTF) is the professional body for licensed racehorse trainers in the UK. It promotes their interests through representation in racings political corridors of power and by providing a range of services and publications.

National Association of Stable Staff
The National Association of Stable Staff (NASS) is the Independent Certificated Trade Union representing Stable Staff employed by Licensed Racehorse Trainers.
NASS is committed to improving pay, conditions of service and the overall employment position of stable staff. It was previously called the Stable Lads Association.

The British Racing School, Newmarket
The British Racing School was established in Newmarket in 1983.
The original aim of the School was to provide purpose built facilities to promote and encourage young people who had the potential to ride as professional jockeys. Since then, the School has developed and flourished to its current position as the Centre of Excellence for training in the racing industry, providing a whole range of different courses and training.

The Northern Racing College, Doncaster
The aim of the Northern Racing College is to provide high quality training for young people who want to work in the racing industry. This leads to the achievement of National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ's) together with practical experience in trainers' yards.
Approximately 100 students complete their 12-week residential 'NVQ level 1 Foundation Course' each year. This is the starting point for students with no previous experience of working with horses and for those with some equine but limited racing experience.

The Horseracing Betting Levy Board
The HBLB is a statutory body established by the Betting Levy Act 1961.
Its role is to assess and collect monetary contributions from bookmakers and the Tote via a levy, which it then distributes for the improvement of horseracing and breeds of horses and for the advancement of veterinary science and education.

Association sets out to represent the interests of Horseracing Sponsors in the widest sense.
Their brief is not to sell sponsorship but aim to work with their members to promote it as well as representing their interests in the sport.

The Racing Post is a British daily horse racing, greyhound racing and sports betting newspaper, owned by FL Partners.
Racing Post was first published in April 1986. It includes information on form of horses and tips for meetings across the country, the going of the courses, age of horses, handicap ratings and other information relevant to the race in question.

Gambling Commission regulates gambling in the public interest. It does so by keeping crime out of gambling, by ensuring that gambling is conducted fairly and openly, and by protecting children and vulnerable people from being harmed or exploited by gambling.
Commission also provides independent advice to government on gambling in Britain.

Arabian Racing Organisation
Arabian racing is racing involving Arabian horses.
The Arabian horse is recognised worldwide as the purest and oldest of all horse breeds. Hailing from the Middle Eastern deserts its stamina was an invaluable asset, ensuring it could carry its rider at speed across miles of open desert with little food or water.
Today, almost every breed and type of horse has traces of Arab blood and all English Thoroughbreds are descended from three horses: Byerley Turk, Darley Arabian or Godolphin Arabian, which were imported to Britain in the early 1700s.

The Thoroughbred Breeders Association
The Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association is a registered charity, which was formed in May 1917 and is the only official body representing Thoroughbred Breeders in Great Britain.
The TBA has always been actively involved in the broad range of issues affecting its members, all of which have a critical bearing on the health and wealth of British Thoroughbred breeding.

Retraining of Racehorses
Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) is British Horseracing’s official charity for the welfare of horses who have retired from racing.
Retraining of Racehorses:
- raises funds from within the Racing Industry to help support the charitable retraining and rehoming of former racehorses
- helps provide facilities for the care, retraining and rehoming of former racehorses
- promotes the adaptability of racehorses to other equestrian activities
- runs a well established programme of competition sponsorship, and clinics to educate and improve riders handling former racehorses
The ultimate goal is to achieve a balance between the number of horses leaving Racing and the number of enthusiastic, and suitable, new homes.

British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA)
The aim of BEVA is to:
- 1. Promote veterinary and allied sciences related to the welfare of the horse.
- 2. Promote and foster cultural, scientific and professional activities of veterinary surgeons interested in equine practice, teaching and research.
- 3. Promote a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas of the management, health and diseases of the horse by holding meetings and an Annual Congress.
- 4. Encourage research into equine problems.
- 5. Publish the Equine Veterinary Journal and Equine Veterinary Education.
- 6. Co-operate with other national and international bodies interested in the promotion of equine and allied interests

Animal Health Trust
The Animal Health Trust (AHT) is an independent charity located just outside Newmarket, which has been improving animal health and welfare for more than half a century. Employing over 200 scientists, vets and support workers, it conducts research aimed at developing better means of diagnosing and treating diseases of animals. Its clinics for horses provides specialist referral services to the veterinary profession.

The Injured Jockeys Fund
Founded in 1964 following the devastating accidents to Tim Brookshaw, and then Paddy Farrell in the 1964 Grand National, the IJF has since spent over £16m in helping over 1000 jockeys whose injuries have forced some of them to give up riding.
Their aim is to maintain this ethos with continuing support for our existing beneficiaries and to provide immediate and effective help to all newly injured jockeys in whatever way is appropriate to ensure a reasonable quality of life for them and their families.

JETS is a scheme designed to help jockeys who hold, or have held (subject to eligibility guidelines) race riding licences in the UK.
Their ultimate aim is to get jockeys to recognise and fulfil their potential by helping them to develop lifelong career plans.
Specialist career development advice, retraining grants and assistance with job applications are the main services provided to help jockeys achieve a secure future.
